Annecy Filmfestival 2010

Seit 1960 findet in Annecy das weltweit wohl bedeutendste Filmfestival für Animationsfilme statt. In 2010 (7. - 12.6.) laufen folgende Langfilme im Wettbewerb:

• Fantastic Mr. Fox von Wes ANDERSON
• Kerity la maison des contes von Dominique MONFERY
• Metropia von Tarik SALEH
• One Piece Film: Strong World von Munehisa SAKAI

• Summer Wars von Mamoru HOSODA

Drei europäische, drei asiatische und ein amerikanischer Film also. Mich persönlich würden besonders "Metropia" und "Piercing 1" interessieren. Auf der Webseite des Festivals heißt es zum Inhalt des Films "Metropia":

In a not-so-distant future, the world is running out of oil and the underground train systems have been connected into a gigantic subway network beneath Europe. Whenever Roger from Stockholm enters this system he hears a stranger’s voice in his head...

Die Technik wird beschrieben mit: "cut-outs, 2D computer, photos". Zum Inhalt von "Piercing 1" wird ausgeführt:

Due to the financial crisis, many factories in China are forced to close their doors in late 2008. Zhang Xiaojun loses his job in a shoe factory. One day, a supermarket guard beats him up, thinking Zhang is a thief. Zhang's dearest wish is to return to his village and become a farmer.

Doe is profoundly affected by the harshness of the world around her and tries to walk beneath a rainbow to transform into a boy...

Klingt interessant. Als Techniken werden angegeben: "drawing on paper, 3D computer, live action". Der Titel des kolumbianischen Films macht ebenfalls neugierig. Zum Inhalt verrät die Festivalseite nur dies:

León Prozak lends his head to Mephistopheles for some circus numbers.

Als Animefan würde ich aber auch gerne "Redline" sehen. Zum Inhalt:

The toughest and the most destructive underground car race in the universe has just begun! In order to win the finals, JP and Sonoshee, one of his competitors, are up against the craziest drivers in their heavily armed and awesome road-tearing vehicle. Who will survive to win?

Jeder, der schon Filme von Mamoru Oshii gesehen hat, weiß, dass er ein Freund von Basset-Hundchen ist. Denn darum geht´s in dem Film:

Set in Tokyo in the near future, when all humanity has been wiped out, a lonely basset hound wanders around in a deserted city. Its only wish is to feel the warmth of a human being once more.

"Esterhazy" ist eine polnisch-deutsche Koproduktion. Diese Knetanimation läuft mit 25 min. schon recht lang für einen Kurzfilm. Der Inhalt:

Esterhazy, a young rabbit from the Esterhazy dynasty in Vienna, is sent to Berlin to find a huge, beefy female rabbit near a mysterious wall in Berlin.

Andreas Hykade ist einer der besten deutschen Animationsfilmer. Seine Webseite: hier. Zum Inhalt von "Love & Theft" wird nur ein Bob Dylan-Zitat geliefert:

"And I'm still carrying the gift you gave, it's a part of me now, it's been cherished and saved, it'll be with me unto the grave and then unto eternity." (Bob Dylan)

Der Film kann auf Hykades Webseite angesehen werden. Mir gefällt er. "Logorama" ist der Gewinner des diesjährigen Oscars für den besten animierten Kurzfilm. Er wurde produziert vom Studio H5, das bisher hauptsächlich Werbefilme und Musikvideos hergestellt hat (Webseite des Studios: hier). Zu "Logorama" schreibt die Festivalseite:

From a frantic chase to wild animals let loose on a city, hostage-taking creates a whole host of drama and more besides!

Das besondere an dem Film ist, dass als Figuren, Gegenstände und Hintergründe ausschließlich Unternehmenslogos verwendet werden. Außer dem Oscar hat der Film auch mehrere andere Preise gewonnen.

"Mémoire fossile" läuft am 10.6. in "KurzSchluss" auf arte. Zum Inhalt heißt es auf der Webseite des Festivals:

A young boy discovers the life of his miner grandfather through a stethoscope. From the house where the old man died of silicosis, the child goes on a visual and audio journey back in time. For him it's a first time experience, from which he emerges conscious of history and eager to remember.

Eine aufwendige Stop-Motion Animation mit einer Länge von 15 min. ist "Red-end and the Seemingly Symbiotic Society". Es geht um Ameisen:

Ants are digging for sugar cubes in an icy cave in order to build a great palace, which finally ends up being a nursery to cultivate bizarre, machine-like larva.

Natürlich hat der Regisseur auch eine eigene Webseite (hier). Lustig klingt der Inhalt von "Monstre sacré":

Accidentally born to ducks, a dragon, as large as he is unassuming, suddenly becomes a media star. But wrongly considered by man as a ferocious monster, he soon finds himself lost in the urban jungle.

Bill Plympton muss man wohl nicht weiter vorstellen. Der Mann ist ein Trickfilm-Workaholic (Wiki). In seinem Kuh-Film geht es um das folgende:

Seduced by advertising, a cow is tragically led into the hands of butchers and carnivores.

Gerne sehen würde ich die griechische Puppenanimation "To horio". Da pasiert das hier:

A doctor discovers that he is required urgently in the village. He arrives there after a long journey, only to find the village empty. With nothing else to do, he starts treating the village itself.

Auch "Tord och Tord" ist eine Puppenanimation, diesmal aus Schweden. Der Inhalt klingt interessant:

One day, Tord accidently walks into the apartment next to his own. Another person named Tord lives there, he has just moved in. Tord and Tord spend time with each other.

Die iranische Regisseurin Maryam Khalilzade konnte ich auf der IMDb nicht finden. Dabei hat sie vor "Photo" schon mindestens einen weiteren Film gedreht: "Approximately" von 2006. Zu "Photo" schreibt die Webseite des Festivals:

Der ungarische Trickfilmer Ferenc Cakó ist schon länger im Geschäft (Webseite) und bekannt dafür, dass er Sand animiert. Zu "Touch" heißt es:

An unusual biography of the director's late father, who was an artist. It explores the depths and heights of emotions in the labyrinth of society and relationships. As well as the search for self-expression and finding that inner voice of inspiration.

"Fuera de control" ist eine Puppenanimation, die sehr spannend klingt. Zum Inhalt:

Isolated and incomplete, several characters share the loneliness inside a maze-like house. They desperately seek to complete one another.

Zsolt Richly ist ein ungarischer Trickfilmveteran, der viel fürs Fernsehen gearbeitet hat. Berühmt ist z. B. die 1970er Jahre-Serie "A Kockásfülű nyúl" (The rabbit with checkered ears), s. Wiki. In "Kömüves Kelemen" geht es um folgendes:

A dark lord asks twelve stonemasons to build a castle on a steep cliff. Despite their efforts, they can't manage to build the castle of Déva. And so they come to an agreement between them: whoever's wife comes to visit first must be burnt in sacrifice and mixed into the mortar to help the building work.

"Land of the Heads" ist Louis´ und Barras´ dritter gemeinsamer Film (nach "Banquise", 2005, und "Sainte barbe", 2007) und eine Puppenanimation. Wie bei "Kömüves Kelemen" klingt der Inhalt düster:

A vampire is forced to go out to decapitate children because his vain wife wants to replace her old head with one that is young and pretty. How awful! Especially since the lady of the house is never satisfied, and the heads keep pilling up on the floor.

Moana Vonstadl ist eine 1982 in Österreich geborene Künstlerin, die seit 2001 in Berlin lebt und arbeitet. Ihre Zeichnungen dürften nicht jedermanns Sache sein (Webseite). In "Shadows Inside" zeichnet (und kratzt) sie auf Glas. Zum Inhalt:

A girl is building a box. Her shadow disappears. Losing one's shadow is the beginning of a journey into thought. Everything is untouchable like a shadow.

"Sonar" ist eine schöne abstrakte Animation in Schwarz, Weiß und Orange. Man kann den Film auf der Webseite des Regisseurs sehen (hier). Die Festivalseite beschreibt den Film wie folgt:

Floris Kaayk fiel bisher durch bizarre "fake documentaries" wie "The Order Electrus" (über mechanische Insekten) und "Metalosis Maligna" (über Körperimplantate, die mutieren) auf. In "The Origin of Creatures" geht es um:

A futuristic vision of a world following a catastrophic disaster. Mutated limbs are looking for help, but a miscommunication means their mission is doomed to fail.

"Tussilago" widmet sich einem politischen Thema:

West German terrorist Norbert Kröcher was arrested in Stockholm on March 31, 1977. He was leading a group planning to kidnap Swedish politician Anna-Greta Leijon. A number of suspects were arrested in the days that followed including Kröcher's ex-girlfriend, A. This is her story ...

Norbert Kröcher gibt´s wirklich (Wiki). Von den beiden Kranots stammen bereits die Filme "God on Our Side" (2005) und "The Heart of Amos Klein" (2008). Beide widmen sich dem israelisch-palästinensischen Konflikt. Und darum geht es auch in "White Tape":

Exploring the issue of boundaries. The frame, the space between brushstrokes and the implications of occupation.

Weiterhin laufen im Wettbewerb: "6 educational, scientific or industrial films", "19 advertising or promotional films", "6 music videos", "7 TV specials", "38 TV series" und "51 graduation films".

Bei den TV-Serien, unter denen übrigens keine einzige deutsche ist, wird in der Regel eine Episode quasi exemplarisch gezeigt. Sind die Episoden sehr kurz, werden aber auch schon mal mehrere gezeigt. So, und jetzt warte ich mal auf die Preisvergabe ...

Zum 50-jährigen Jubiläum des Festival des Filmfestivals legt der Glénat-Verlag mit CITIA (Organisationsverband des Filmfestivals) einen kiloschweren Prachtband auf, der Beiträge von berühmten Künstlern vereint: Michel Ocelot (Kirkou), Matt Groening (Les Simpsons), Bill Plympton (Les Mutants de l’espace), Raoul Servais (Papillons de nuit), Jacques-Rémy Girerd (La Prophétie des grenouilles) und Nick Park (Wallace & Gromit) stellen dafür Skizzen, Plakate, Entwürfe, Storyboards und ähnliches zur Verfügung. Créateurs & créatures : 50 ans de Festival international du film d’animation d’Annecy, Éditions Glénat,(collection Beaux livres), [8. Juni 2010, 256 Seiten, Preis TTC France : 39 €] heißt das Hardcoverbuch.

Der Hauptpreis des Festivals heißt "Cristal". Und mit dem wurden drei Produktionen ausgezeichnet:

  Von Shaun Tan stammt die Carlsen-Veröffentlichung "Ein neues Land" (Guide). In der Computeranimation "The Lost Thing" geht es um:

• Bestes TV Special: "Der Kleine und das Biest" von Johannes WEILAND & Uwe HEIDSCHÖTTER
  
  Damit geht also einer der drei Hauptpreise nach Deutschland! Der Film lief am 4.4.2010 (Ostersonntag) auf KI.KA. Die Webseite des Senders beschreibt den Film wie folgt:
  
  

  Seit Haros Papa nicht mehr zu Hause wohnt, ist seine Mutter ganz anders geworden. Sie kann nicht mehr richtig mit Haro spielen, brütet über alten Fotos, lacht nicht mehr und verbreitet üble Laune.
