Annecy Filmfestival 2011

Vom 6. - 11.6.2011 gibt es in Annecy wieder tonnenweise Animationsfilme zu sehen. Im Wettbewerb laufen die folgenden Langfilme:

"Den Kaempestore Bjorn" lief schon auf der Berlinale. "Chico & Rita" wurde gerade in Stuttgart gezeigt. Von Masayuki KOJIMA stammt u. a. die Anime-Umsetzung von Urasawas "Monster". Zu "The Tibetan Dog" heißt es auf der Festivalseite:

After the death of his mother, Tenzing leaves the city to live with his father in the Tibetan prairie. Life is difficult at first, till the day the young boy witnesses a fight between some Tibetan guard dogs and a golden-haired stranger to the pack.

Interessant finde ich, dass zwei Beiträge aus Südkorea stammen. Der Inhalt von "Sojunghan nare kkum" wird knapp wie folgt beschrieben:

A girl is struggling with the meaning of her existence. One day she meets a boy and a girl whose ideas make more sense of it all.

Zu "Jib" wird noch knapper ausgeführt:

Ga-young loves beautiful houses and meets house spirits in her shabby neighbourhood.

"Tatsumi" aus Singapur ist offenbar ein Film über den Mangaka Yoshihiro Tatsumi, von dem einige Werke auf englisch bei Drawn & Quarterly erschienen sind. "Buddha" ist eine Verfilmung von Osamu Tezukas Manga. Phil MULLOYs "Goodbye Mister Christie" ist nur für Erwachsene bestimmt. Zum Inhalt:

When caught on TV having sex with a French sailor, Mr Christie's life is changed for ever.

Anzumerken ist, dass der Film eine Fortführung der Serie "The Christies" ist, die es auch auf DVD gibt. Sehr interessieren würde mich "The Prodigies":

Central Park, New York. Five children are savagely attacked. But these five aren't like other children: they are prodigies. Abnormally intelligent and able to control the minds of others, they prepare their revenge...

Von Antoine CHARREYRON stammt schon die TV-Serie "Galactik Football".

Ebenfalls aus Portugal stammt der längste Film dieses Programms: "Viagem a Cabo Verde" (17m23s). Der Film wurde ganz traditionell auf Papier gezeichnet. Inhalt:

A sixty-day walk in Cape Verde with no mobile phone, no watch, no plans for what to do next and only the bare essentials in the backpack.

José Miguel RIBEIRO ist in der Animationsfilmszene kein Unbekannter. Von ihm stammt z. B. die 25minütige Puppenanimation "A suspeita" (1999).

"Maska" ist mit einer Laufzeit von 23m35s der längste Film in diesem Programm. Er stammt von den Brüdern QUAY. Die kann man inzwischen getrost als Giganten des Puppenfilms bezeichnen.

Jeder ihrer Filme wirkt wie aus einem anderen Universum stammend. Im Grunde versteht man nie irgendetwas. "Maska" ist die Verfilmung einer Erzählung von Stanislaw Lem. Produziert wurde der Film in Polen.
