Seither umfasst sie etwas, das in Amerika Creative Nonfiction genannt wird. Das hört sich wie ein Widerspruch in sich an, denn etwas, das man sich nicht ausdenkt, kann ja eigentlich nichts sein, was Ergebnis einer schöpferischen Tätigkeit ist. Gemeint sind damit Bücher, die sich zwar wie Sachbücher an die Fakten halten, diese Fakten aber nicht streng wissenschaftlich, sondern mit literarischen Mitteln darstellen.
