Seit Jahren produziert Ghibli Kurzfilme, die nur in Japan im Ghibli-Museum zu sehen sind. Würde Ghibli diese Kurzfilme auf DVD auswerten, würden sie damit bestimmt Millionen verdienen.
Der aktuelle Kurzfilm (von Januar 2010) ist ちゅうずもう (Chuzumo), was auf der Ghibli-Seite mit "A Sumo Wrestler's Tail" übersetzt wird. Es geht um ein Sumo-Turnier unter Mäusen. Das Drehbuch stammt von Meister Hayao Miyazaki persönlich. Regie führte Akihiko Yamashita, der sich aber offenbar gelegentlich den Rat des Meisters einholen musste. Auf
