"A Silent Voice" ist eine Verfilmung des gleichnamigen Mangas, der auf deutsch bei Egmont (hier) erscheint. Die Festivalseite zum Inhalt des Films:

A deaf schoolgirl named Shoko meets a boy named Shoya in her new class when she transfers elementary schools. Shoya, who is not deaf, leads the class in bullying Shoko about her impairment. Years later, Shoya, tormented by his past, decides to go see Shoko to try and make amends for what he did back in school by becoming her friend.

"Big Fish & Begonia" wird von der Festivalseite wie folgt beschrieben:

Chun is a celestial being in charge of begonias. When she turns 16, she's sent into the human world disguised as a dolphin as part of a coming-of-age ritual. Kun, a human, saves her life, but loses his own in the process. With the help of her friend Qiu, she tries to revive Kun's spirit in order to thank him for saving her.

Young Suzu leaves Hiroshima in 1944 to get married and live with her husband's family in Kure, a military port town. The war makes their living conditions more and more difficult, but despite this fact, the young woman cultivates joy and a zest for life. But in 1945, the bombings put her courage to the test.

Vom künstlerischen Standpunkt aus dürfte "Loving Vincent" interessant werden:

The world's first fully painted feature film brings the paintings of Vincent Van Gogh to life to tell his remarkable story. Every one of the 65,000 frames of the film is hand-painted by 115 professional oil-painters who travelled from all across Europe to the Loving Vincent studios to take part in this unique production.

Von Kenji KAMIYAMA stammen u. a. die beiden "Ghost in the Shell"-TV-Serien und der "009 Re:Cyborg"-Spielfilm. In "Ancien & the Magic Tablet" geht es laut Festivalseite um Folgendes:

Kokone lives with her father in Okayama. Recently, she's been having a series of strange dreams. Then, her father is suddenly arrested. With help from her friend Morio, Kokone is determined to free her father, as well as unravel the mystery of her dreams.

In "Pequeños héroes" geht es um den Unabhängigkeitskämpfer Simón Bolívar - und seine kleinen Helfer. Die Festivalseite:

Set more than two hundred years ago, Arturo, Pilar and Tico, three brave children from different backgrounds, discover an amazing secret: the key to helping Simón Bolívar defeat the enemy's army. The time has come to fight for freedom and the troops move forward with vigour.

"Tadeo Jones y el secreto del Rey Midas" ist die Fortsetzung zu Tad, the Lost Explorer (dt.: "Tad Stones - Der verlorene Jäger des Schatzes"). Die Festivalseite zu der Fortsetzung:

Tad travels to Las Vegas to see his friend Sara's latest discovery: a papyrus that proves the existence of King Midas, who turned everything he touched into gold thanks to the power of a magical necklace. But the happy encounter between Tad and Sara is disrupted when the evil Jack Rackham steals the papyrus and kidnaps Sara to force her to find the necklace, a source of infinite wealth.

Nothing happens is both a cinematic and Virtual Reality experience which questions the role of the spectator, by inviting the individual to participate in an event. VR allows us to choose our perspective, allows us to become absorbed in the unique atmosphere. The project explores a different kind of narrative, a new way of being in a painting.

Zu der Puppenanimation "Tühi ruum" verrät die Festivalseite:

A little girl wants a puppy for her birthday, but instead she receives her father (whom she thought was dead). A very long-standing dream is what kept him alive throughout the years and it will only come true now, through this film.
