Lying on the fringes of Israeli culture, comix have gradually grown in popularity and are now internationally enjoyed. In this energetic cinematic treat, filmmakers Shaul Betser and Asaf Galay trace the little-known history of Israeli comix—from the medium’s humble and messy roots to the modern day characters created by Dudu Geva, Rutu Modan and Etgar Keret. Often imitating American comics, many artists successfully redefined the superhero for Israeli and Jewish contexts.
