Großbritannien:

5th British Comic Awards 2016
(Bislang wurden die Britischen Comicpreise jährlich vergeben. Am 14. Juli gab der Manager des Preiskommittees, Adam Cadwell, jedoch bekannt, daß dieser Jahrgang nicht vergeben wird. Zeitliche und finanzielle Schwierigkeiten sowie fehlende Unterstützung durch ehrenamtliche Helfer behindern diesmal Organisation, und Cadwell zieht eine rechtzeitige Absage einer schlampigen oder mißlungenen Preisgala vor.
Allerdings soll der Preis 2017 wieder vergeben werden.

Why no BCAs?

We are sad to announce that the full 5 categories of the British Comic Awards won’t be taking place this year due to a lack of funding and lack of time on behalf of Awards Manager, Adam Cadwell. It was a difficult decision to put the BCAs on hiatus this year but ultimately we’d rather reorganise and recruit more help for 2017 than run a hastily assembled and disappointing awards for 2016. Heartfelt apologies to all the creators and publishers who have produced amazing work this year who may have had their eye on a BCA.

Community Archive & Heritage Awards 2016
(Die CommunityArchives and Heritage Group (CAHG) kümmert sich um das kulturelle Erbe im Vereingten Königreich und in Irland. Auf der jährlichen CAHG-Konferenmz in London werden exzellente Beiträge in den Kategorien Allgemein/National, Innovation, Bestes neues Prrojekt und Bester digitaler Beitrag.
Am 12. Juli wurden die Sieger verkündet.)

Kategorie Innovation:
S.J. Bristow (Szenario) / Andy Lee (Zeichnungen): Achi Baba, Gallipolli 1915 (Magic Torch Comics 2015, unterstützt durch den Heritage Lottery Fund Scotland)

(In der Begründung heißt es.)

“Magic Torch has been helping create a record of important local events in an easily-accessible and highly-innovative comic-book format; eg, the experiences of a locally-based regiment during the First World War. The group has taken this format into local schools; it (clearly has the potential to) spark ideas in other groups… and (fills) a gap in (presenting) the past in a digestible format to the difficult-(to-reach) senior schools audience.”

Singapur:

Singapore Literature Prize (SLP) 2016
(Alle zwei Jahre werden in diese angesehenen Literaturpreise vom National Book Development Council und dem National Arts Council.in Singapur.in insgesamt 24 Kategorien vergeben. Unterschieden wird dabei zwischen Fiction, Non-Fiction und Lyrik sowie nach den Sprachen: Englisch, Chinesisch, Malayisch und Tamilisch. Der Sieger erhält jeweils 10.000 Singapur-$.
Die Zeremonie fand am Donnerstag, de, 14. Juli im Regent Hotel, Singapur statt.
P.S.: Ich mußte zweimal hinschauen, weil sowohl die Shortlist als auch das Preisgeld mit einem anderen Preis identisch ist (siehe oben #655) - und zweifle noch immer.)
